IELTS Reading. COP26: Seven reasons global transport is so hard to decarbonise
When I was looking for reading materials to teach IELTS students. I found a website that allows reprinting and uploading of their articles. So I look for a few articles that resemble Cambridge IELTS reading tests articles to give to my students and to put on this website for others to learn reading at IELTS Band 5-9 levels. The article below is a good reading material to help prepare for the IELTS reading test. I have highlighted the words that are at the C1/7-8, C2/8.5-9, and X (not in IELTS) level which total about 80 in a 940 words article, which is about right. The article is repeated a few times to highlight different emphases. A student should read the first one to try to understand the article. The second one is to emphasise the words that are at a higher IELTS band and that is why most IELTS students will find difficulty in understanding their meaning. The third one gives the Chinese meaning to the words at the C1 and above levels. The last one has some of the C1 and above words emptied out to allow the students to try to remember them and fill in the blanks.
Next, the article is broken into sentences to help students learn sentence structure and grammar. This is excellent for learning to write and produce good sentences in IELTS writing. The lexical resource table has all the words used in this article from B1/4-5, B2/5.5-6.5 levels and above.
