The recent pandemic has caused our country to suffer a financial downturn, causing people to lose jobs or get a pay cut. In times like these, I feel that it is better to save than to spend beyond our necessities, and I will explain why. (44)
Firstly, saving up is a prudent safeguard against the uncertainty looming in the foreseeable future. For example, presently, the whole world’s economy is bleak; a person might lose his job or get a reduction in his paycheck. It is wise and vigilant to have some bank savings for situations like this to not resort to borrowing from others. Additionally, I believe that a good form of discipline can be developed from regularly putting aside a specific sum of money. This form of self-control quite often enables a person to build up a sizeable amount of money to buy a car or put down a deposit for a house. Finally, let us be reminded that the current financial crisis was caused by a virus that has spread throughout the world. This infectious disease victimized the ill-prepared, causing people to fall sick and suffer through financial turmoil. Having some savings to tie through such a chaotic and grim situation does help a person gain some control over his life. Therefore, I feel that rational savings are a good cause of action against uncertainty in life. (185)
Admittedly, some people think differently and choose to live for the moment, thinking that perhaps tomorrow will take care of itself. While I believe that we should spend on daily essentials, it is unwise to throw caution to the wind. (40)
To conclude, the wiser choice is to save as saving is a good form of discipline that can safeguard our future, handle unforeseen situations and act as a buffer against setbacks. (31) (300)
